Final Project;
A Project on Growing Up
By Cassie Seidel

If you are reading this, and you are an adult, don’t think that you are all grown up. If you think you are done growing, well you are wrong. I believe that everyone is growing even up to the day they die. Of course you are growing with age, but I believe you are growing with thoughts and feelings as well. You may be 89 and change from a democrat to a republican just because you wanted a change, but actually it was a change in growth. If you are able to read this, your thoughts are changing about growth. Your mind is growing in thoughts. Also, an adult's mind is usually at a higher rank of growth than a child’s mind. A child might go through small tribulations, but not to compare with an adult. An adult has gone through much more than a mere innocent child. If you think about it, the innocence of a child is inspiring for adults. Maybe that is why adults have children, to experience their innocence. Maybe their innocence make adults remember that although they are growing, they can still remain young through their child. Have you ever really thought about growing in this way? I know it is hard to believe that the innocence of a child can help a grown man take a break from growing up, but it is happening every day. I know, that whenever my dad looks me in the eyes, I know that he needs me, and I know he loves me.

Dear Peter Pan,

Why don't you want to grow up? Most people want to grow up as quickly as possible, so why are you different? Sure you live in Neverland, and sure you can fly, but never growing up? I need to ask why? I know being a boy is so much fun, but wouldn't you like to be respected. Don't you want to be called "mature"? Peter, being a boy might seem to be all fun and games, but you will always be different as a boy. People will call you strange if you remain a boy until you die. Most kids can't control these things, but you seem like you can. A small boy cannot be young forever. He must grow old, yet you, Peter, can remain young. I’ve always wondered how you could do that. Growing up, no matter how hard you try, might be impossible. Maybe you never want to grow up because you can’t. Peter, I feel bad for you. You will never have a wife, you will never have kids to love, and you will never be successful. Never growing up might seem fine and dandy, but if you really, truly, think about it, it isn’t all that amazing.

From,
Cassie

There were once two best friends named Jackie and Jill who never wanted to grow up. By the time the two friends were 16 Jackie wanted to remain childlike and Jill decided to change her mind and grow up. Jill didn’t know how to tell the other friend, so she just avoided her instead. The two ended up being enemies all through the rest of high school. Jill became extremely popular, and Jackie wasn’t. Jill had a faithful boyfriend, and Jackie didn’t. However when the two grew older, they both ended up successful. Jill became the head of Northwest Airlines, and Jackie became the new CEO of Toys R’ Us. At one point, these two enemies ran into each other again. Jill was holding a copy of Shakesphere’s Romeo and Juliet. Jackie was holding a copy of To Kill a Mockingbird. When they finally talked, Jill realized that Jackie had changed. She was no longer whining every five seconds. She didn’t have a Barbie in her hand. She was Jackie, a good Jackie. When Jill asked Jackie what changed her mind about growing up, Jackie just said, “I never did, this book taught me that I can still be a kid, yet be mature in everyday actions.”

Can a Teenager Love?:
An Essay about Love
Cassie Seidel

Love is a complicated thing to understand. The way a guy can look into a girls eyes and say, "I love you" is especially complicated. It is very easy to lie about love. If you really love the person, you shouldn't have to say, "I love you" the person should just know that you love them and that they love you right back.

Although most fairy tales show a boy and a girl instantly falling in love, I believe that love doesn't just happen, you have to grow into love. You can try and try again, but it is most likely that you will not fall in love with a person wandering on the street. You don't know the person until you've stepped in their shoes and walked around in them. It is easy enough to like someone, but to evolve a "like" into love is a whole different story. In the play Romeo and Juliet the characters fall in love immediately. A kiss can not destine death. Juliet, a young girl by the age of 12, is almost like an item waiting to be sold to any young man who has a more than a penny in their pocket. She might "love" Romeo because he is the one man she could not marry. Juliet may like Romeo, but love is just going to far. Love takes much longer than an night to multliply and prosper. Fairy tales and Shakespeare say love can happen at first sight, but I disagree.

A couple that I know to be in love are Brian and Kaye-Leigh. Before Kaye-Leigh even knew Brian, she was sexually assaulted by her boyfriend and got pregnant. She did, however, decide to have the baby, no matter what consequences came, because she thought abortions were wrong. During her pregnancy she also had gallstones, and she almost didn't make it. She did though, and now she has an exquisite 3 year old child, whom she loves very much. After Kaye-Leigh met Brian, it was hard for her to trust anyone, so she had to grow into love. She found Brian to be loving and caring, and he loves her child as much as he loves her. That all that Kaye-leigh needed was love. Love for her and her child. They are now married happily and living in Groton.

I believe that if you are in love, you also must be best friends. If you grow into love, it is most likely going to be with your best friend. Friends know you from the inside out, and so should the person you love. Friendship and love are almost the same thing. The only difference is, love can last forever.
TS: I believe I will grow to love someone
Bell Word: Grow

SD: It is hard to love someone as soon as you see them
CM: It is easy to like someone, but you don't even really know who that person is
CM: It is not until you get to know them that you might actually fall in love

SD: I like to get to know people
CM: It is hard for me to go up to someone and start being their best friend
CM: I was hurt once, and I don't want it to happen again

TS: A couple I know to be in love is Kaye-leigh and Brian Doyle
Bell word: Couple

SD: Kaye-leigh and Brian are still newlyweds, but I believe that they are perfect for each other
CM: Before Kaye-leigh even met Brian, she had a child, but this didn't change one way that Brian looks at her
CM: Brian cares about Kaye-leigh and the baby just as much as he would if the little girl were his own daughter

SD: Kaye-leigh has had some rough times, but Brian has always been there (and she for Brian)
CM: Kaye-leigh is married, has a kid, and goes to collage, at the same time
CM: Brian has a job, but it is hard to keep up with the family
